Job description
Charterhouse are currently supporting a Qatar client, whom are in the process of looking to identity a Group Financial Controller (GFC) to oversee their retail-based business entities, from a financial governance, accounting and reporting prospective.
About the role
Sitting at a Group level, this Controller will take oversight of all consolidation across the retail stores and brands within the portfolio, whilst also ensuring strong reporting processes and controls are in place, to ensure strong and robust planning & forecasting procedures. In conjunction, the GFC shall also be heavily involved in managing all aspects across any statutory/regulatory reporting whilst having oversight of the audit engagement and managing these compliance matters. On top of these responsibilities, the GFC shall be instrumental in the development of financial analysis tools, to support the commercial strategy and business channels, whilst also being able to manage a team of finance managers across areas of financial accounting, banking operations and cash management.
About You
The client is looking to recruit a professionally qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA) candidate. whom is able to display at least ten years of post-qualified experience, within both accounting and controller-based positions. The client will look to identity a candidate whom is exposed to the retail sector, with a capacity to add a strong insight to operational finance and commercial matters, within this market space. The ability to bring a strong analytical skill set will be another key criterion for the client; which will be geared heavily towards having an advanced understanding of Excel tools. The nature of the Qatar market, means that the client will look to pinpoint candidates, from either the regional or wider international market. Applicants should be able demonstrate a core knowledge of retail principles, ideally within the supermarket/hypermarket space, to add knowledge to any finance and/or commercial nuances.
