Dive into the heart of Emiratisation with us!

At Charterhouse, we provide in-depth insights into the hiring of UAE Nationals empowering our clients with the knowledge and resources necessary to execute a successful Emiratisation strategy. In this blog, we unravel the essence of Emiratisation and explore why this strategic endeavour is pivotal for the nation's progress.

The Emiratisation initiative set out by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has been in force for over a decade. However, new quotas recently set this year, aims to increase the employment of Emirati citizens in both the public and private sectors within the next five years. The Government has set specific targets for Emiratisation in various sectors, including banking and finance, telecommunications, human resources, and hospitality. Private companies are directed to meet Emiratisation quotas, whereby companies must incorporate a certain percentage of UAE Nationals into their workforce. The updated policy stipulates that private companies with 50 or more employees must increase their Emiratisation quota by 2% annually.

NAFIS (also known as The Emirati Human Resources Competitiveness Council) is leading the way in promoting this initiative, and they aim to incorporate 75,000 UAE Nationals into the private sector workforce within the next five years. This strategy encourages an inclusive workforce, as well as having a positive impact on the UAE’s economic development and promotes Emirati’s diverse skill set and talent.
The effectiveness of this Emiratisation policy is monitored closely by the Government, and incentives for companies are in place to encourage this initiative, such as offering financial support. For companies to follow this quota and be compliant, companies that do not meet these targets will be hit with substantial fines. This strategy invests in the growth of the UAE economy, and for Emirati citizens, it allows them to continue paving the way for the development of the future success of the UAE.
